Christian Letourneau is a writer, producer, and editorial strategist based in Marseille, France.
For five years, I built the content strategy, brand voice, and digital marketing infrastructure for Matfer Bourgeat USA. I’m a founding member of Open Book Films, a UK-based video production agency focusing on sustainable food brands. My journalism has appeared in NYT/The Athletic, Eater, Gastro Obscura, Football Case Study, and Fodor's, with reporting that has taken me from the soup kitchens of Portland, Maine to the football fields of Kolkata, India. I works across storytelling disciplines as a fixer, writer, and liaison connecting anglophone media to Marseille, and vice versa.
After studying literature and photography at Bard College, I spent a decade approaching food as universal subject. First as a cook, then as a food rescue and shelter kitchen specialist, then eventually as a writer and producer, treating every plate as primary source. As my work has expanded to include broader subjects and storytelling disciplines, that embedded, “back of house” method is reflected in all my work, be it journalistic, documentary, or commercial. If your hands are clean enough to touch the keyboard, you probably aren’t ready to start typing.
Contact me for fixing, scouting, staffing, research, or production in or around Marseille, or anything involving Marseille-ology. Contact me to antagonize legacy media. Contact me for ludicrous zine projects, for offline restaurant recommendations, food justice, or unhinged catering gigs. Contact me to dig down to the heart of your project and bring out the voice that will stand out in a world of cautious slop. Contact me to give me a contract for a 1980s-style 10,000 word a year traveling magazine correspondent’s gig. Contact me to straddle French and American sensibilities, semiotics, and markets. Contact me for a coffee, a pastis, a sunset.
